Last updated 22 October 2026. A signed service agreement with PIK-UP takes priority over these terms wherever the two differ.
1. Who these terms cover
These terms apply to every shipment booked with PIK-UP, whether through PIK-UP LOGISTICS AND MOBILITY LLP (Express Division) or PIK-UP Logistics (Transport Division), at a booking center, through an account manager, by phone, by WhatsApp or through this website. "PIK-UP", "we" and "us" mean the entity named on your docket or invoice. "Consignor" means the person or business sending the goods, and "consignee" means the person or business receiving them.
By handing goods to PIK-UP for carriage, the consignor accepts these terms on its own behalf and on behalf of the owner of the goods.
2. Booking and documents
- The consignor must give an accurate description of the goods, the number of packages, the weight and value, and the consignee's name, full address, pincode and phone number.
- Every shipment must travel with a tax invoice or delivery challan. Where GST law requires an e-way bill, generating a valid one is the consignor's responsibility.
- Shipments without the required documents may be held or returned. Any penalty or detention caused by missing or incorrect documents is payable by the consignor.
- The PIK-UP docket (lorry receipt) issued at booking is the record of the contract of carriage.
3. Packing and labelling
- Goods must be packed to withstand normal handling in surface transport, including loading, unloading and long road journeys.
- Fragile goods must be cushioned and marked as fragile. Every package must carry the docket number and its count, for example 1 of 4.
- We are not responsible for damage caused by inadequate or unsuitable packing.
4. Weight and charges
- Charges are calculated on the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight, at the rate quoted to you or agreed in your service agreement, including any charges for remote, hilly or out-of-delivery-area pincodes.
- We may check weight and dimensions at our hub. If they differ from what was declared, charges are revised to match.
- Walk-in and one-time bookings are prepaid. Business accounts pay according to the credit terms in their agreement.
5. Prohibited goods
We do not carry the following, and the consignor is responsible for any loss, damage, fine or legal consequence caused by sending them:
- Explosive, flammable, corrosive, radioactive or otherwise hazardous goods, and compressed gases
- Cash, currency, bullion, jewellery, precious metals and precious stones
- Arms, ammunition, narcotics and any goods that are illegal to possess or transport
- Live animals and plants, and perishable goods unless agreed in writing
- Any item prohibited or restricted under Indian law
We may open and inspect a package where the law requires it or where we reasonably suspect that it contains prohibited goods.
6. Transit and delivery
- We may carry your goods on our own vehicles or through partner carriers. PIK-UP remains your single point of contact throughout.
- Transit times are estimates, not guarantees. We are not liable for delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as weather, floods, road closures, strikes, accidents, festival or government restrictions, or other force majeure.
- We deliver to the address on the docket and hand the goods to the consignee or to a person at that address who accepts them. The signed or stamped proof of delivery (POD) is evidence of delivery.
- If delivery fails, we will attempt delivery again or return the goods to the consignor. Goods that are not accepted within 7 days of the first delivery attempt may attract storage charges, and returning them is at the consignor's cost.
7. Checking delivery and claims
- The consignee should check every package at delivery. Visible damage, shortage or tampering must be written on the POD at the time of delivery.
- Loss or damage that is not visible at delivery must be reported to us in writing within six days of delivery.
- After reporting, send the full claim within 30 days: the docket number, photos of the packages and goods, a copy of the invoice and the POD with remarks.
- If a shipment has not been delivered, contact us as soon as possible. Claims for total loss must be raised in writing within 30 days of the booking date.
- Raising a claim does not allow the consignor or consignee to hold back payment of freight charges.
8. Limit of liability
- Our liability for loss of or damage to goods is governed by the Carriage by Road Act, 2007 and the Carriage by Road Rules, 2011. For total loss, our liability is limited to ten times the freight paid or payable for that consignment, and never more than the value declared on the docket or goods forwarding note.
- For partial loss or damage, compensation is assessed in proportion to the part of the consignment lost or damaged, within the same limit.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit, business, market or contract, or penalties under your own agreements.
- We are not liable for loss or damage caused by inherent defects in the goods, inadequate packing, incorrect declaration, the act or neglect of the consignor or consignee, or force majeure.
- If your goods are worth more than this limit, we strongly recommend insuring them for transit before dispatch.
9. Unpaid charges
We may hold goods, including goods from later shipments of the same consignor, until all charges due to us are paid.
10. Fleet hire (Mobility)
- When you hire a PIK-UP vehicle, we provide the vehicle and driver. Loading and unloading are the hirer's responsibility unless agreed otherwise.
- Waiting beyond the agreed free time, tolls, permits and extra distance are charged as quoted or agreed.
- The hirer is responsible for the documents and the lawful nature of the goods carried, and for not overloading the vehicle beyond its permitted capacity.
11. Warehousing
Storage, handling and stock reporting are provided under a separate warehousing agreement. Unless that agreement says otherwise, insuring stored goods is the owner's responsibility.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. We will first try to settle any dispute in good faith. If that does not work, the courts at Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh have exclusive jurisdiction.
